The garden was started in 2008 by community volunteers, in coordination with Faith in Action and the City of Chelsea, on two-thirds of an acre of land off Sibley Road behind the TimberTown play structure. Grants from the 5 Healthy Towns Foundation, the Chelsea Community Foundation, and the Chelsea Area Garden Club were used to create the infrastructure. Garden members are grateful for their generous support in helping to provide access to nutritious food for our community.

These 3 gardens are tended by volunteers, and everyone is welcome to join. You can tend a vegetable bed, a flower area, or the water garden, help turn the compost, just sit and enjoy the beauty, or join in at one of our many workdays or BBQs. GOD'S Community Garden 14 years have planted, grown, and distributed 61,562 lbs. of vegetables and will be continuing with this mission again in 2022. Fresh veggies and herbs gave free to all neighbors in need. Our main initiative is to provide free produce to those in need and all senior citizens through our farm stands. We host farm stands in various locations on Aquidneck Island where anyone can come and receive products, no questions asked.
